Basically, I offer two approaches to facilitation of hands-on art sessions for school classes, public events, or private parties:
In Book Arts Workshops, I teach a particular binding or structure, providing step-by-step instruction, demonstrations, and one-on-one assistance as needed. Workshops include all materials plus access to necessary tools. Projects include a variety of sewn, folded, pasted, and/or woven book and paper structures. [List of courses coming soon!]
In Creative Playshops, participants dive right into the creative process after I provide basic introduction and demonstration of the chosen activity, and engage in creative play alongside group participants, while remaining available for guidance and assistance as needed. Playshop offerings include collage, mask-making, and paper-surface decoration techniques such as suminagashi (simple marbling), nature printing, and paste-paper techniques.
Art sessions are typically 2-4 hours in duration. Group sizes may vary from 3 to 20, depending on the facility and the complexity of the project or activity. There are many possibilities, depending on your objectives. Minimum charge for up to a half-day session is $100, plus materials, plus any facility rental fees. (My own studio has very limited space, and is only open to consideration for very small groups.)
